Filed under: Diet, ResearchA while back I highlighted the fat absorption properties of green tea. Well, it turns out that there may be a new Shenobi in town, because Japanese scientists have discovered some healthy competition.
Oolong tea has been found to have very high levels of antioxidants called polymerized polyphenols, which inhibit the body’s ability to absorb fat. The researchers uncovered this tea secret after giving subjects 3 cups a day of oolong that had infused with twice the normal amount of polyphenols. The enriched oolong tea inhibited the body’s ability to absorb fat by up to 20 percent.
Unfortunately, this super-charged version of oolong tea is not yet available for consumers. But, the regular version can be purchased in most health food stores and even some supermarkets…
